Once a travelling kiosk.

Originally built in 1915 for Great Western Railway (GWR), the octagonal structure of the café was once used as a travelling information kiosk by the railway company. In 1942, Swindon town’s council bought the kiosk from GWR and gave it a permanent home in a central position within Town Gardens as a refreshment kiosk.

Now a listed grade II building, in the care of South Swindon Parish Council, the Town Gardens Café sits near to the bandstand, which acts as a focal point for the gardens, and for the residents of Old Town and wider Swindon it’s been a popular meeting spot for friends and family for as long as they can remember.
